The client and the goal
Convoy Home Loans, Inc. is a mortgage broker based in El Segundo, California, in the South Bay area of Los Angeles County.
The goal was simple to say and hard to do: be the first mortgage broker borrowers see on Google Maps when they search “mortgage broker” in El Segundo.
What stood in the way
The challenge
El Segundo is a small city surrounded by much larger, very competitive markets: Manhattan Beach, Hawthorne, the rest of the South Bay and Los Angeles itself. Brokers, banks and national lenders from all of them compete for the same searches.
In a market like this, Google leans heavily on relevance and trust signals: the right categories, a complete profile, consistent business details and a steady flow of reviews. Those were the levers to pull.

What I did
The same Google Business Profile and local SEO process I use for every mortgage client, adapted to El Segundo, CA.

Profile, website and the businesses already in the Map pack reviewed; the main keyword and city confirmed.

Primary and secondary categories, services, description, photos and Q&A rebuilt around the searches borrowers make.

The result
Convoy Home Loans now ranks #1 in Google Maps for “mortgage broker” in El Segundo (checked October 2026).
Being first in the Map pack means borrowers searching in El Segundo see Convoy before any other broker, along with its reviews, phone number and directions, without Convoy paying for each click.
